THE BRITISH INUIT BREED STANDARD
Not to be confused with the Northern Inuit, the British Inuit was mixed with Czech wolf dog and the original Northern Inuit. Therefore the dogs registered as British Inuit are NOT no content they are LOW content. They now come under the bracket of Wolf Dog.

Breed Standard
General Appearance
Firm type of constitution, with a rectangular frame.Athletic in body shape and movement. Coat texture and mask similar to the wolf.
Important Proportions
Length of body : Height at withers - 10 : 9
Length of muzzle : Lenght of cranial region - 1 : 1.5
Behaviour/temperament
Lively, active, resistant to weather conditions,versatile, friendly and non-guarding.
Head
Symmetrical, well muscled, with slightly arched forehead. Nose oval in shape and predominantly black, nostrils large. Muzzle clean, not broad with a straight bridge. Moderate stop. Lips tight fitting, black with no gap at corner of mouth. Jaws strong and symmetrical, well developed teeth, with scissor bite. Cheeks clean, sufficiantly muscled and not markedly protruding. Eyes slanting and forward facing, amber to brown, blue or odd coloured accepted. Ears short (i.e. not longer than 1/6th of height of withers), triangular and carried erect.
Neck
Well muscled and strong, in repose forms an angle of up to 40 degrees to the horizontal. The neck should be sufficiently long for the nose to touch the ground effortlessly.
Body
Topline flowing from neck to body, pronounced, well muscled withers, but must not interrupt the flow of the topline. Back firm and straight. Short, well muscled croup which falls away slightly. Symmetrical, roomy, pear shaped chest. Lower line taut. Point of sternum does not extend beyond the shoulder joints.
Tail
Set on high and reaching to the hock. Carried low when standing, but when dog is excited can be raised up in a sickle shape, but not carried over the back. Curly tails are highly undesirable.
Limbs
Forequarters straight, clean and close together. Shoulders well muscled and forming an angle of 65 degrees to the horizontal. Close fitting, well defined and flexible elbows. Long clean and straight forearm. Solid and flexible pastern joint, long pastern with an angle of 75 degrees to the ground with a light and springy movement. Feet well defined with dark, elastic paws.Hinquarters powerful with a parallel stance.Long, well muscled upper thigh. Sturdy and flexible hip joint. Knee strong and flexible. Lower thigh long, clean and well muscled. Hocks almost vertical to the ground, long, clean and with a solid, flexible hock joint. Hind dew claws are undesirable and removal is recommended.
Movement
Harmonious, light footed, ground covering trot in which the limbs skim over the ground closely. Head and neck incline to the horizontal.
Coat
Dense, double, straight coat with a slightly harsh texture. Well coated neck, breeches and tail. All shades of grey, white, black and red are permissable, with characteristic mask, but patchy or over long coats are undesirable.

Height at withers; Dogs at least 65 cm Bitches at least 60 cm
Weight; Dogs optimum 30 - 36 kg Bitches optimum 24 - 30 kg
