How to work it out... Wolf/Hybrid or dog?

THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WOLF LIKE BREEDS AND TERMS

F1 WOLF HYBRID A cross of a full domestic dog to a full wolf

F2 WOLF DOG A cross of the above (FI WOLF HYBRID) with a full domestic dog

F3 WOLF DOG A cross of the above (F2 WOLF DOG) with a full domestic dog

F4 DOG A cross of the above (F3 WOLF DOG) with a full domestic dog

Now in theory and on paper the F4 is nil percent wolf although genetics are much more complex than this and obviously there are many conitations and make ups that will change looks, character etc, Wolf Dogs have bred F2 to F2 or F3 to F3 maintaining the content in the breed pool.

A 50% 50% Hybrid could have more wolf genes and less dog genes in one pup and less wolf genes and more dog genes in another.

This is why the majority of breeders and behaviourists believe there is a certain amount of risk with natural instincts, behaviour, temperament in a lot of these wolf dog crosses and mixes.

Hybrids and F2 hybrids are not legal in the UK and require specialist licenses and enclosures and care.
